Cervia, Hotel Genzianella, viale Roma 85, Italy

The CEI International Summer School "Beyond Enlargement. The Wider Europe and the New Neighbourhood" will take place in Cervia,

from Sunday 2nd to Saturday 15th September 2012.

Organized by the Istituto per l'Europa Centro-Orientale e Balcanica and supported by the European Commission, TAIEX and the Central

European Initiative, the 18th International Summer School "Beyond Enlargement. The Wider Europe and the New Neighbourhood"

will take place in Cervia (Italy) from September 2nd to 15th , 2012.

A prominent international Faculty together with a widely differentiated group of participants from various countries will provide an

ideal environment where to analyze and discuss about the problems of the Enlarged Europe. Furthermore, the development of

interpersonal and intercultural relationships between East and West Europeans and the shared learning about political issues

of common concern will be an added value of the school. Split in two groups, the participants will attend lectures, seminars and

workshops focusing on democratic development, human rights, peace and security issues, European integration on the one hand

(Course A: "Diversity Management, Governance and the Role of Civil Society Networks"), and economic growth and commerce

based on new technologies, institutions and work practices, as well as on integration factors and the new policies of EU neighbourhood

on the other (Course B: "Sustainable Development, Green Economy and the Role of Civil Society Networks") .

All participants will benefit from interdisciplinary events, that will take the form of interactive workshops, panel discussions, and keynote

speeches. We will be glad to host Renzo Daviddi (Deputy Head, Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina)

speaking about "Getting Greener and More Innovative. Some Thoughts based the Western Balkans Experience" during

the Opening Session of the Summer School on September 3rd. Moreover, Patrizio Bianchi (Councillor for School, Training,

University and Research, and Labour, Emilia Romagna Region) will address the participants with a reflexion on Green Economy.

Sustainable Development and the Challeng of the Word Crisis on September 13th. During the school the participants will also

meet and discuss with two MEPs: Vittorio Prodi will give a speech on sustainable development as a key to peace on September 7th,

whereas Gyorgy Schopflin will close the Summer School on Sept. 14th speaking about the crisis in Europe.
