Economic Studies

Coordinated by Guido Gambetta, the economic area of study is involved in analysing and monitoring the transitions to market economy in the former communist countries. A network of economists that are members of the "Europe and the Balkans" International Network, together with the researchers and fellowship holders of the Institute, produce reports on each country, both at a macro- and micro-economic level, with reference also to the monetary policies and the development of small and medium-sized companies and cooperation in the East-European and Balkan countries.

The economic study area work-group supplies ad hoc research, feasibility studies, market research on request by Italian companies. Thanks to the constant monitoring of the evolution of the state of the economy in East-European and Balkan countries, it was possible to prepare reports of a macro-economic nature on each country, published in the 1998 Yearbook and onwards.
