"YOU SHARE – Youth Sharing Memories of Stalinism and its Victims"

International You Share Forum
Faenza, September 27-29, 2010

The International You Share Forum is the final event of the You Share project, started on November 2009 and co-financed by the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Commission .

The aim of the Forum is to share academic research and young people perceptions and comments on the issue of Stalinism and its victims, in order to circulate information, knowledge and memory among European citizens in a bottom-up approach.

In this Forum will participate: testimonies of Stalinism in Central and Eastern Europe, eminent scholars, PhDs, partner representatives, local institutions, youth non governmental organizations working in the memory  and human rights issues. In this sense, there will be testimonies and witnesses who directly suffered Stalinist atrocities, its consequences (family members of victims), NGOs directly involved in human rights defence activities. On the other hand, the Forum will be attended from scholars coming from the United States, Russia, Japan, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Albania, who will present their comparative research on Stalinism.

Also a huge number of students and professors from the University of Bologna, Vytautas Magnus University at Kaunas, University of Ljubljana, University of Zagreb, University of Rijeka, as well as the PhD program in Diversity Management, master in Eastern European Studies (MIREES), European Master in Human Rights in Sarajevo, will be able to participate.

The Forum is structured in three days and different thematic roundtables. Each roundtable encompasses a presentation of the researches carried out from the PhD candidates who were selected from an International Call for Papers. Then it will be accompanied by the comments of the senior Discussants who have followed the PhD candidates in their research work. A very crucial moment will be the analyses and testimonies of several international guest speakers which will bring up to open discussions with the audience, in the spirit of commemoration of the victims of Stalinism. Finally, short films and documentaries will enrich each roundtable.

Detailed information on the Forum agenda is already available for download.
