The third edition of the graduation ceremony of the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Master in Research and Studies on Eastern Europe took place last 28th September 2012 at the Town Hall of the Municipality of Forlì. During the ceremony 24 students coming from 12 countries have been awarded a joint master’s degree. The event was attended by the vice-rector of the Romagna Campuses of Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini Guido Sarchielli, the Chairman of the Forlì Campus Council Félix San Vicente Santiago, the Director of the new Department of Political and Social Sciences Fabio Giusberti and the and the City Councillor with portfolio for Culture and International Relations Patrick Leech. On the occasion of the ceremony, Leonidas Donskis, former Dean of the School of Political Science of the Vytautas Magnus University-Kaunas and now a Member of the European Parliament, delivered the keynote speech on "The Dissonances of Memory: Talking Past Each Other in Europe".
MIREES is an international Master’s Degree jointly offered by the University of Bologna (Faculty of Political Science “Roberto Ruffilli”), the Vytautas Magnus University at Kaunas, Corvinus University of Budapest, Saint Petersburg State University and the cooperation of the University of Ljubljana. The programme is characterised by a strong presence of international students: in addition to enrolled students (55% in the class of 2010-2012 are not Italian), MIREES has increased its international attractiveness since the attendance to its courses from Erasmus students has reached the pick of approximately 37% per year of the incoming students to the Faculty of “Political Science” R. Ruffilli.
The active participation of professors not only from the partner universities but also from other foreign universities (37 in all, coming from 13 countries form Australia to France, from Hungary to Georgia, from the US to Serbia) ensures a rich learning environment. The programme also offers the possibility to attend an international summer school, seminars and lectures with experts, technicians, ambassadors and officers fostering knowledge exchange also concerning topics of current affairs.
