Presidential Systems in the Ex-Soviet Republics

At the end of May, 2011 Professor Jean Blondel delivered three lectures on the political systems of the ex-Soviet Republics, comparing the political cultures of each republic and examining their regimes. As a distinguished visiting professor at the University of Siena, Blondel delivered his lecture series in the framework of the MIRESS Open Lectures. These were the final three in the Open Lectures series, putting a cap on a year of diverse and challenging discourse.

Summer school in Faenza

17th International Summer School "Beyond Enlargement. The Wider Europe and the New Neighbourhood

Following the call for applications which closed on June 28th, the members of the Scientific Board selected the eligible participants to the 17th International Summer School "Beyond Enlargement. The Wider Europe and the New Neighbourhood", supported by the European Commission, DG Enlargement and the Central European Initiative.

Taking place in Faenza (Italy) from September 4th to 17th, 2011 the school regularly offers courses on European integration, democratic developments, human rights, peace and security issues. The 2011 edition of the school is particularly designed for representatives of Western Balkans Civil Society's Organisations. Within the broader frameworks of Diversity Management, and Green Economy/Sustainable growth, it will offer participants an arena to exchange experiences as well as tools for fighting against discrimination, strengthening the actions of activists in the Central and SEE Region and spreading a new sense of economic development.

PECOB's call for papers

The Scientific Board of PECOB announces an open call for papers to be published with ISSN 2038-632X

Interested contributors may deal with any topic focusing on the political, economic, historical, social or cultural aspects of a specific country or region covered by PECOB.

Potential contributors must submit a short abstract (200-300 words) and the full text, which can be in English as well as any language from the countries covered by PECOB.

Upcoming deadlines for submitting proposals are:

January 31st, 2011
June 30th, 2011
November 30th, 2011
